A page for Co-op specific questions and answers, separate from our regular Digitera FAQs
Digitera is pleased to announce that we will be operating our best-in-class tech-related Co-op program in a virtual format during these challenging times. Please note the following changes to the program accordingly.
One of the programs that Digitera launched in Fall 2016 was that of High School Co-Op Students. Provided by various High Schools from local School Boards in and around Ottawa, these Co-Op Students come to Digitera due to their interest in all things within the Computer Arts & Science fields…Programming , Design and Marketing. Our program started slow and has increased rapidly since then, with over 300 students having come through the program to date (as of the Summer 2020 term).
As our Co-Op program has increased in size & scope, our requirements have equally morphed. Accordingly, we’ve prepared a description of our various streams along with some requirement guidelines to go over. Note that they’re soft guidelines, and exceptions can be made for the right student. However, following these guidelines as much as possible will allow for much greater productivity for all concerned.
Overall, this program isn’t for beginners who want to learn something from scratch…rather, it’s designed for students who have already started down a path and want to get real-world experience in the field they have skills in.
It is an absolute requirement that ALL Co-Op Students have their own Device that they can use for work every day. Device requirements are as follows;
Laptops must be of a sufficient quality that enables proper execution of the assigned tasks. Chromebooks will do for Data Entry and some Programming, but proper up-to-date laptops will be required for any and all Design work.
In the past, we’ve made allowances for students to borrow laptops from their schools, but this solution is no longer viable due to our tasks requiring up-to-date laptops capable of handling todays digital workload.
